"My attachments got to me, San Francisco's bullpen had the fifth best ERA in the majors during the normal season at 3.01, While kansas was 10th at 3.30. and even while Santiago Casilla, Jeremy Affeldt, Javier Lopez and Sergio Romo are among the seven players who have took part in all three of the Giants' postseason runs since 2010, we have seen signs of unsteadiness. He'll be back about the, By the period, The game had gotten away from frisco, Along with the opportunity to become the first World Series team since the 1999 New York Yankees to open with a pair of road wins. The Arizona Cardinals placed starting inside linebacker Deone Bucannon on the physically unable to perform list. Bucannon had ankle surgery in May and has led the team in tackles each of the last two seasons. . . .
The Chiefs signed quarterback Patrick Mahomes to a four-year rookie contract. Kansas City traded its first- and third-round picks this year and its first-round pick next year to the Buffalo Bills to grab the Texas Tech quarterback with the 10th overall selection. . . .

Former VCU big man Justin Tuoyo joins Ram Nation

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
With forward Romeo Travis getting married this weekend, Ram Nation needed another big man for its round of 16 game in The Basketball Tournament.
Adding a player for this round http://www.armacan.com/jonathan-stewart-jersey-c-1_4.html costs $3,000, according to tournament rules. Ram Nation raised the money through donations in less than 24 hours and brought aboard 6-foot-9 Justin Tuoyo.
Tuoyo, who spent one season at VCU before transferring to Chattanooga, just finished his career with the Mocs as a three-time defensive player of the year in the Southern Conference.
“We needed another person to defend the paint and rebound,” said Ram Nation guard Brandon Rozzell.
Ram Nation, a group of mostly VCU alumni, has had a few changes since putting together its roster for the tournament, which features a $2 million prize for the winner.
Former James Madison big man Denzel Bowles didn’t show for the first two games in Charlotte and has been dropped from the roster. Former VCU forward Juvonte Reddic pulled out early because of a knee issue.
Reddic was replaced by former VCU and NBA center Larry Sanders as Ram Nation advanced by beating Showtime 82-80 and Primetime Players 96-82.
Former VCU guard Jesse Pellot-Rosa, who had been playing in Puerto Rico, missed the first two games after this flight was delayed. He’s expected to be on hand when Ram Nation plays N.C. Prodigal Sons on Friday at 7 p.m. at http://www.cinemakolik.com/stephen-curry-jersey-c-1_32.html Long Island University in New York. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
The single-elimination tournament is heavy on overseas pros and former NBA and college players. Ram Nation has three players with significant NBA experience: Sanders, point guard Eric Maynor (VCU) and forward Reggie Williams (VMI, Prince George).
Forward Jamie Skeen had 25 points and hit a last-second jumper in the first game. Williams had 19 points and Rozzell 16.
Maynor had 28 points, eight assists and nine rebounds in the second game. Rozzell had 19 points and Skeen added 14. The 6-11 Sanders scored 8 points and blocked nine shots in 29 minutes combined in the two games. He and Tuoyo give Ram Nation two top shot-blockers.
Ram Nation trailed N.C. Prodigal Sons by 15 at halftime in the opening round last year. It came back to win 85-80.
“We know they’re going to come out pumped up,” said Rozzell. “It’s going to be a good game for us. It’s going to be physical. I think if we come out and stay focused and do what we do, we’ll be fine.”
If it wins, Ram Nation may get another shot Jonathan Stewart Authentic Jersey at two-time defending champion Overseas Elite, which has never been beaten (15-0).
Elite plays Tampa Bulls on the other side of the South Region bracket. If Ram Nation and Elite win, they will play on Sunday. Elite eliminated Ram Nation 91-80 last year in the round of 16.

Sanders teaching hoops, life at clinic

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
LIBERTY — At a time when violence and wrongdoing are widespread, it’s reassuring to know of those people who make it their life http://www.hssmstore.com/andy-lee-jersey-c-1_38.html mission to foster peace and harmony, in this case through the game of basketball.
Sam Sanders will host his second annual Rising Stars Basketball Clinic at the United Methodist Church of Liberty Gymnasium from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday. It is open to kids of all ages to learn the fundamentals of basketball and critical tips on how to achieve your dreams. The fee for the clinic is $7, with signups at the door.
Sanders speaks from experience. He was a former standout basketball player at Liberty High School, twice winning the Ivan Richards most valuable player award given to Liberty’s top player. Sanders went on to play for Division II Mansfield College and averaged 43 points a game in a semi-pro league soon after his college http://www.ky-oo32.com/derek-anderson-jersey-c-1_31.html career ended.
Soon after, Sanders was faced with a critical decision to play for a professional team in Australia (coached by former Australian player Reggie Biddings), but opted to stay in New York to work in the recreation department at a local corrections facility and continue to be a father to his daughter Shania.
“The reality of the NBA is certainly in reach for everyone, but in order to achieve your goals, you have to work hard, keep a focused mindset, and make good decisions,” Sanders said. “I want to teach as many kids as possible that if you work hard, you can achieve anything you want.″
The clinic is also aimed at focusing on uniting communities. “One similarity between different races and cultures is that we’re all people,″ Sanders said. “We all deserve to be treated fairly, and that includes law enforcement.”
Officers from the Sullivan County Paul O'neill Womens Jersey Sheriff’s Department and the Fallsburg Police Department will be on hand to teach the youth the importance of community involvement while having fun on the basketball court.

Alabama Roots: Who's where as NFL opens training camps

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
The Arizona Cardinals become the first NFL team to bring their full roster to training camp on Friday. Six teams already have http://www.texansprosale.com/sio-moore-jersey-c-1_18.html had their rookies report, but the Cardinals have the earliest reporting date for veterans, starting an eight-day period during which all 32 NFL training camps will open.
The Cardinals' roster includes four players with Alabama football roots, including linebacker Karlos Dansby, the dean of the current NFL players from the state's high schools and colleges. The former Woodlawn High School and Auburn standout has played in 196 NFL regular-season games since entering the league in 2004.
The four Cardinals are among the 166 players with Alabama football roots on NFL active rosters as training camps open.
The Cincinnati Bengals with 10 and the Baltimore Ravens with nine have the most alumni of the state's high schools and colleges. The http://www.newjersey1861.com/phil-simms-jersey-c-1_5.html Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings have one apiece.
The Alabama players come from 13 colleges and 63 high schools in the state.
Daphne High School has four players on current NFL rosters, and Foley, Hueytown and Oxford have three apiece.

Ron Rivera on Panthers' 2016 season: 'It didn’t happen to us. It happened for us'

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
Everyone has a rough year from http://www.officialpiratessale.com/francisco-cervelli-jersey-c-1_7.html time to time, even some of the best NFL teams. The question is how you respond to it. Do you learn from it and get better, or do you let it drag you down?
As for Panthers coach Ron Rivera, he thinks Carolina’s dismal 2016 season was a great learning experience for his team.
Speaking in an interview with Albert Breer at MMQB, Rivera shared a personal story about how to respond to tragedy:
It remains to be seen whether the Panthers actually will grow from the experience. One thing is clear: the team did realize they needed to change the way they protect their franchise quarterback.
This year’s draft class includes three promising pieces that should all make Cam Newton’s life easier. Christian McCaffrey is an all-purpose back who will provide an excellent check-down option and legitimate receiving threat. Curtis Samuel can line up in the slot or run out of the backfield, and Taylor Moton will help http://www.officialredsprostore.com/todd-frazier-jersey-c-1_25.html keep edge rushers off Newton’s back.
If they all work out as planned, the harsh lessons of 2016 may all be worth it in the long run.
Rivera also talked about Dave Gettleman’s sudden exit and re-uniting with interim general manager Marty Hurney. You can read more here.

Marty Speaks – Panthers could be over the cap in 2018?

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
The biggest concern Carolina http://www.firestormkennel.com/braxton-miller-jersey-c-1_26.html Panthers fans have over rehiring Marty Hurney as interim general manager is salary cap management. Now, for the first time, we are hearing that in 2018 the Panthers could be over the salary cap. Did Hurney just tip his hat to more moves on the way? Could be.  This information comes from Chuck Howard who interviewed Marty Hurney recently.
“Well it’s funny, cause I cam in yesterday and I had a short meeting about the salary cap and found out we may be over in 18” Hurney said. “I said oh great, thanks a lot, I’m not even here yet and it’s going to come back.”
According to Over the Cap, the Panthers look to be 20 million under the salary cap in 2018. This calculation does not account for the Trai Turner signing. Still, even with the Turner extension, the Panthers should be comfortably below the salary cap. Unless, of course, more contract moves are in the pipeline.
Should the Carolina Panthers attempt to extend Thomas Davis, Greg Olsen, and Andrew Norwell that extra camp room would quickly disappear. All three of these players play very important roles and deserve to be extended ASAP. The http://www.armacan.com/michael-oher-jersey-c-1_24.html bad news? Doing so now would limit the Carolina Panthers ability to sign future free agents like Kelvin Benjamin and Star Lotulelei. Take from Peter to pay Paul, such is the way of salary cap management.
Tough decisions will need to be made very soon, well within Hurney’s interim role as general manager. Below is a video of the Hurney interview.

How ex-Yankee Derek Jeter inspired Mets' Curtis Granderson

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
NEW YORK -- Curtis Granderson rode a Citi bike to the New York Public Library on Friday, and while it might not seem like much to an outsider watching him ride, the act was symbolic to the Mets outfielder.
So many kids -- too many kids, if http://www.cinemakolik.com/shaq-thompson-jersey-c-1_11.html you ask Granderson -- don't have the same educational opportunities as others. The library represents education for everyone, which is what Granderson has been working to provide through his Grand Kids Foundation. The veteran outfielder rode to the library to bring awareness to his foundation and celebrate its 10-year anniversary.
What started as a basketball game at a gym in Michigan has grow to be a program that benefits kids all over the country and has even earned Granderson a nomination for ESPN's Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award.
Credit his parents, who are both teachers in Chicago, for the notion that education can help put a child on the right path and keep them there, and former Yankees teammate Derek Jeter for inspiring him to keep growing the foundation.
"I think a lot of people wanted to know why I chose education. Why not choose something publicly bigger?" He said. "But with the graduation rates in Detroit being as low as they were, and with my parents and sister being educators and me having gone back and gotten my degree, education was something very important to me."
Granderson has never been shy about http://www.hl-sapporo.com/james-bradberry-jersey-c-1_2.html his desire to bring baseball to the inner cities and the politics that come along with that. But baseball is only a small part of what Grand Kids is all about.
"It's tied into fitness and nutrition because all of that is tied into the day as a student," Granderson said. "Baseball is one of the different activities that kids and youth can be a part of."
Ten years ago, Granderson had pie-in-the-sky dreams of making the foundation as big as Jeter's Turn 2 program. He wasn't sure that his first event, a basketball game at a Detroit area gym, would be enough.
Several Michigan celebrities showed up for the event, starting with his former teammate Dontrelle Willis, and by the end of the day they had more attention than Granderson thought possible after TMZ posted a video of Braylon Edwards making free throws.
"The Turn 2 Foundation, I'm seeing that going, 'Wow, they're raising all of this money and they've got all of these big galas and I want that today," Granderson said. "The passion that I had, I wanted everybody to feel that. I wanted to Devin Funchess Youth Jersey be able to do things and bring in the numbers. It's not that we weren't getting the attention and it's not that we weren't getting people to come. But the dollars like that take some time.
"And even without the dollar amount, the impact can still be there."

The fame game: How Odell Beckham Jr. crashed the QB club

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
The stars were out at the 2015 NBA All-Star Game. Jay-Z, Beyonce, Bill Clinton, Ben Stiller and Bill Russell all roamed courtside at Madison http://www.officialpiratessale.com/francisco-cervelli-jersey-c-1_7.html Square Garden. And beside them -- looking like he belonged -- stood New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
If one moment solidified Beckham’s status as a household name, it was Clinton asking the wideout for a picture -- according to Beckham’s friend and current Giants punter Brad Wing. A former president of the United States asked for a photo with a 22-year-old NFL player. It’s not your everyday interaction, even for a wide receiver who stars for one of the league’s flagship teams in the nation’s biggest market.
Beckham had just finished his second NFL season and had already reached A-list celebrity status. That doesn’t happen too often in a sport where the athletes' faces are hidden by helmets. Most football players are recognized by the name on the back of their jersey rather than by their jaw structure or golden locks.
Beckham’s fame has reached unprecedented status in record time, in part because of a legendary catch and freshness that was off the charts.
Consider the 2015 All-Star Game. NBA players, including LeBron James and Russell Westbrook, flocked in Beckham’s direction. They exchanged hugs and handshakes, and Westbrook even came with a high-five.
Beckham isn’t Tom Brady, the highest-ranked NFL player on ESPN’s World Fame 100. Brady was No. 21 on the list. Other quarterbacks -- Cam Newton, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Eli Manning -- are ranked higher than Beckham, as well. But Beckham, ranked No. 64, is the most famous non-quarterback NFL player on the list.
On the strength of his bright blond fauxhawk, Beckham is making $10-plus million in endorsements annually. He also enjoys a robust social media following on Instagram (8.6 million followers), Twitter (2.5 million) and Facebook (1.4 million). Beckham was the NFL’s top player on social media over the last calendar year, according to MVPindex, a social media intelligence platform that analyzes athletes’ social http://www.officialredsprostore.com/michael-lorenzen-jersey-c-1_11.html media portfolios and calculates their digital brand value. Beckham’s social media footprint came in at a whopping $82 million from July 2016 to July 2017. He blew away the competition. Brady was second with a social footprint worth $44.9 million.
"Odell Beckham Jr. had a record-setting year on social last season because he was able to create unique, branded content that gave fans an inside look into his colorful personality, life and style -- both on and off the field," said Kyle Nelson, co-founder and CMO of MVPindex. "He's been able to cash in on his personal brand and connect with fans, not to mention generating real value for his corporate partners."
Beckham has endorsement deals with Nike, Head & Shoulders, Dunkin' Donuts and Steiner Sports, among others.
And, Beckham is only 24 years old. Consider, when Brady celebrated his 24th birthday, he was still a scrawny backup to Drew Bledsoe. At 24, Rodgers had never started a game, Brees was struggling in San Diego, Manning was entering his first full season as a starter, and Newton was far from a household name with nary a dab to his name.
Beckham was also recently Desmond Jennings Youth Jersey ranked No. 1 on the Charge 25 Under 25 Index. The index measures the strength of athletes’ brands while under the age of 25, based on social media following and engagement, search results and news stories. Beckham also ranked fifth on the NFLPA Top 50 Player Sales List for the 2016 season.

Who are the best defensive players in the NFC South by position?

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
Our division positional rankings http://www.ochomesnloans.com/harrison-butker-jersey-c-1_31.html series rolls into the NFC South, taking a look at some of the more talented defensive players in the NFL. Every team in the division has had a difficult time getting consistently dominant play out of their defensive units as a whole on a year-to-year basis, but each team has aspects of that side of the ball that they’d like to hang their hats on as a clear strength, at least on paper.
When complete, this series will consist of 16 parts, as we rank the position groups of each division in the NFL on both sides of the ball. Keep in mind that each position group is ranked based on current ability, with a lean toward “near future” projections thrown in. Here are the divisions and position groups we’ve completed so far:
Interior Defensive Linemen
1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Gerald McCoy, Chris Baker, Stevie Tu’ikolovatu, Clinton McDonald
2. Carolina Panthers – Kawaan Short, Star Lotulelei, Vernon Butler, Kyle Love
3. Atlanta Falcons – Grady Jarrett, Dontari Poe, Derrick Shelby, Ra’Shede Hageman, Courtney Upshaw, Jack Crawford
4. New Orleans Saints – Sheldon Rankins, Tony McDaniel, David Onyemata, Tyeler Davison (Nick Fairley)
Analysis: This is a strong group across the http://www.yadeos.com/mike-adams-jersey-c-1_9.html board in the NFC South, but Gerald McCoy and Chris Baker on the same team should be fun to watch for Tampa Bay fans. Both can rush the passer and stop the run with equal propensity, although it remains to be seen how they’ll work on the field at the same time. Stevie T can eat a handful of snaps (no pun intended) as a run clogger every game, which should free up Baker and McCoy for even the occasional rotation to stay fresh.
Kawaan Short would be the choice of many as the best interior defensive lineman in the division, but his running mate, Star Lotulelei, has fallen off after he looked like he’d be on his way to elite status early in his career. Vernon Butler would be starting on a lot of teams in the NFL, so don’t be surprised if he pushes Lotulelei for more playing time at some point.
The Falcons’ addition of Dontari Poe is a solid one that can become great if the soon-to-be 27-year-old can get back to his way of playing a few years ago in Kansas City. A steady rotation should do wonders for Poe, as the growth Joe Dimaggio Jersey of Grady Jarrett and Ra’Shede Hageman will be important to Atlanta’s success up front.
New Orleans could have potentially been higher up this list despite the overall divisional strength, but losing Nick Fairley for the season is a big blow. I’m extremely high on the futures of Sheldon Rankins and David Onyemata, especially after strong 300-snap rookie seasons, but the Saints have a big hole at nose tackle that Tyeler Davison isn’t going to be able to fill. The team often deployed smaller fronts last year, and will likely rely on a similar strategy in 2017.

Notebook: Woodberry Forest football schedule takes on new look

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
New Woodberry Forest football http://www.firestormkennel.com/brian-cushing-jersey-c-1_15.html coach Scott Braswell’s first season on the sideline will feature a revamped non-Prep League schedule.
Powerhouse programs Bishop McNamara (Md.), Bullis (Md.), Pinecrest (N.C.) and Avalon (Md.) are all gone, but the Tigers can expect a test in their season opener on Sept. 2 at home against Charlotte Latin School.
After leading the Hawks to a 12-0 record and the 2016 North Carolina Independent School Division I state championship, longtime head coach Larry McNulty announced in February that 2017 will be his final season.
McNulty has run the sideline at Charlotte Latin since 1985, leading the Hawks to 11 state titles and coaching three NFL players, including former Virginia standout Chris Canty. Brenton Bersin, a 2008 graduate, is on the Panthers’ roster and Ross Cockrell (2009) is with the Steelers.
Other schedule additions: Bishop O’Connell (Sept. 9), which went 5-5 last season and beat Fork Union, 19-6… Paul VI (Sept. 30), which went 1-9 in 2016 and lost to FUMA, 28-14, and ended the season with a 40-3 loss to Bishop O’Connell.
Woodberry has an open date on http://www.armacan.com/paul-soliai-jersey-c-1_8.html Sept. 23, which athletic director Matt Blundin is working to fill.
Blue Ridge, STAB won’t meet in 2017
There is a notable absence on the Barons’ 2017 schedule. Blue Ridge and St. Anne’s-Belfield will not meet on the football field for the first time since at least 2005.
Last season’s meeting was halted in the third quarter due to a lack of healthy players on STAB’s sideline.
Sept. 28 will feature a VISAA Division II state championship rematch as Blue Ridge hits the road to face North Cross in Roanoke.
The Barons dropped a regular-season game, 42-34, last season in Roanoke before running away from North Cross, 41-14, in the state finals.
Saints set for 8-man games
St. Anne’s-Belfield will take the field at Stephen Curry Kids Jersey home on Sept. 15 against Greenbrier Christian for the first of its three 8-man football games scheduled for this season.
STAB announced the move in February after struggling through a 3-9 season with fewer than 30 players on the roster.
The Saints’ 8-man team will travel to Hampton Roads on Oct. 13 and host the Navigators on Oct. 27.

Why a season of Tom Savage is the Texans best option for 2017

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
The Texans just spent a first round http://www.hl-sapporo.com/andy-lee-jersey-c-1_24.html pick on Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson to help solve their quarterback woes, but the best option for the 2017 season is already in-house in Tom Savage.
Tom Savage, the former fourth round selection of the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft has talent. No one denies that. The dude can sling the football with the best of them.
Yet, the former Pittsburgh Panther has only managed to start a measly three games in his three-year NFL career. That has less to do with Savage’s ability to play on the field and more about him being healthy enough to do so.
Savage missed the entire 2015 campaign due to a sprained shoulder. There are some, like myself, who believe that if healthy, Savage would have played over both Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett at some point that season.
There is a part of me that believes Savage’s performance might have been enough to convince the Texans not to sign Brock Osweiler, but that is neither here nor there.
Back to the point…
Before the Texans selected Watson, I http://www.hssmstore.com/andy-lee-jersey-c-1_38.html wrote an article urging for Savage to start. Those points still hold true today, however some things have changed that need to be addressed.
Savage has shown both promise and talent.
That promise started in the first preseason game for the Texans last summer against the San Francisco 49ers where Savage displayed a good feel for the pocket, while showing good accuracy and a pop on his throws. Granted, it was against the 49ers’ second team.
Savage is the veteran. Sure, he only has three starts to his name. He also has three years worth of experience in the Texans’ offense. He showed a lot of promise against the AFC South rival Jacksonville Jaguars last season. You can see that tape here.
When Savage had time in the pocket as he Daeshon Hall Womens Jersey did against the Jaguars, he was borderline elite in the short to intermediate ranges. He had one bad read and throw the entire game in those areas.
Savage did what Osweiler could not and the whole team responded well to his play and accuracy in the short and intermediate ranges.
John Harris, of the Texan’s official team website broke down how the offense changes with Savage.

Tony Romo says he still has a ways to go as an announcer

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
When CBS made Tony Romo its No. 1 color http://www.texansprosale.com/ryan-griffin-jersey-c-1_35.html commentator, it was surprising because he has no experience in broadcasting. And Romo himself acknowledges it’s a job he still has to learn.
Romo said on 105.3 The Fan that he’s working with Jim Nantz, calling practice games and getting better, but he’s also trying to figure things out.
“I’ve started to do the practice games,” Romo said, via the Dallas Morning News. “I do these little daily things in Dallas — just little run-throughs and practice sessions, how to feel [and] look, how to think. It’s been good. I feel a lot more comfortable now than when I started. But I still got a ways to go.”
Romo is an articulate guy who http://www.newjersey1861.com/odell-beckham-jr-jersey-c-1_21.html knows the game, but that’s no guarantee that he’ll be good at making short, quick observations between plays that add value to the viewers at home. It’s a good sign that he knows he still has work to do.

5 Options to Bolster the Lions Pass Rush

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
The Lions ability to rush the passer in 2017 could be problematic, and the options to bolster it are limited, but for a creative http://www.authenticcowboysstore.com/shop-by-players-benson-mayowa-jersey-c-2_4.html general manager, there are choices available.
In my recent Lions Roster Stack Pre-Training Camp edition, I projected the Lions to keep five defensive ends: Ezekiel Ansah, Cornelius Washington, Kerry Hyder, Anthony Zettel and Armonty Bryant. But the recent four-game suspension of Bryant has put the fifth defensive end role in flux.
In 2016, Bryant played only 104 snaps but was able to record three sacks. That level of production isn’t outstanding, but for a team who struggled to get sacks (26), Bryant’s skills were a welcomed addition.
The Lions will likely choose to wait until training camp to find a replacement for Bryant as they have some upside in-house options in: versatile DE/OLB Brandon Copeland, 2017 seventh round pick Pat O’Connor or undrafted free agents Alex Barnett and Jeremiah Valoaga. If they chose to look outside the organization, there are five ways I think they could bolster their pass rush.
Trade for an instant impact defensive lineman
Sheldon Richardson is in the final year of his rookie contract and the New York Jets have been actively shopping him this off-season. His trade value has slowly declined with the biggest obstacles being his fully guaranteed contract of $8,069,000, potential future contract and off-the-field issues.
As of today, the Lions don’t currently have the cap room to make this trade. Although, contracts can easily be restructured, and they would likely try to give him an extension (which would further alter his cap number) if they decided to make this trade.
Richardson is the mold of what the Lions look for in a defensive lineman, big and strong. While he won’t solve the Lions pass rushing threat alone (one and a half sacks over 761 snaps in 2016), he is an impact player who would allow others to step-up their games.
If Bob Quinn is concerned about the http://www.authenticraiderssale.com/shop-by-players-mario-edwards-jr-jersey-c-2_60.html Lions front four and he feels comfortable with Richardson’s contract situation, offering as little as a fifth round pick to the Jets could land them the 26-year-old former rookie-of-the-year and pro-bowler.
Add a veteran free agent as a situational pass rusher
Dwight Freeney is 37 years old but he showed last year that he still has some gas left in the tank as a situational pass rusher. In 2016, he played 415 snaps over 15 games and recorded three sacks. Not quite as high of a snap-to-sack rate as Bryant but still effective enough as a defensive role player.
Mario Williams is another big name pass rushing free agent but his career has had a much faster fall-off than Freeney. In 2016, Williams played 449 snaps over 15 games and recorded one and a half sacks, but was a healthy scratch in week 17 and was released by the Dolphins in February. The big question is, at 32 years old, how much does he have left?
Add a versatile free agent defensive lineman
Jared Odrick is capable of playing closed defensive end and defensive tackle in the Lions scheme but an elbow injury limited his 2016 season. While he has never been a prolific pass rusher (six and a half sacks in last 22 games), his ability to stop the run and play different roles would allow the Lions to be more creative how they use other players.
Jason Jones wasn’t re-signed by the Lions in 2016, instead he went to Miami and a decent season, 516 snaps over 14 games, producing three and a half sacks 36 tackles. He was a surprise release before their playoff game. His familiarity with the Lions scheme could get him a look.
Wait for a veteran to be released
Desmond Bryant missed all of 2016 with a torn pectoral muscle but was a productive pass rusher in his three years prior as a Cleveland Brown, registering 14.5 sacks. With a $4,000,000 cap hit in 2017 and the Browns adding players to their defensive lineman in the off-season, Bryant is firmly on their roster bubble. With the size to play closed defensive end or defensive tackle for the Lions, Quinn will likely be keeping a close eye on the Browns during the pre-season.
Former Lion George Johnson is entering Craig Robertson Authentic Jersey his third season with Tampa Bay but he has yet to register a sack for the Bucs. He came up empty in 2015 and missed 2016 with a hip injury, and it’ll be interesting to see if the Bucs continue to be patient with him in the final year of his contract. His one year in Detroit he registered six sacks and thrived in the Lions attacking scheme.
Find a player who hasn’t lived up to his potential
Cornellius “Tank” Carradine was one of my favorite players in the 2013 draft class and despite tearing his ACL, he was still selected by the 49ers with the 40th pick in the draft. San Francisco allowed him time to heal and tried him at different positions, finally settling on using him as a situational pass rushing linebacker.

Re: Perez with two outs in1967: The year of the Summer of Love at Stanford

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
Although the year of the Summer of Love has its roots in San Francisco – beginning with the Human Be-In event that attracted tens http://www.authenticsteelerssale.com/shop-by-players-carnell-lake-jersey-c-2_52.html of thousands of people to the Polo Fields at Golden Gate Park on Jan. 14, 1967 – the launch of the radical counterculture movement was certainly felt at Stanford, where love, war, drugs, and the fight for equality were popular themes.
The previous spring, Stanford students had elected David Harris student body president. With his long hair, torn jeans and strident voice, Harris was a sharp contrast to his buttoned-down student politico predecessors. He went on to become a national figure in the anti-war movement, but his initial focus at Stanford was education. He challenged the school’s administration and inspired students to take responsibility for their own education in the broadest sense. The strain between students and the administration was documented on the annual Quad pages and throughout issues of the Stanford Daily of that year – opening the door to increased student involvement in the academic community.
Lifestyles and values, as well as ideas, were changing at dizzying speed. Students trekked up to the City on weekends to dance in the psychedelic scene of the Fillmore nightclub. Jefferson Airplane and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band played a concert in the Stanford Basketball Pavilion (now Burnham Pavilion) to raise money for the senior class. Class president Jim Binns remembers asking the crowd to “put out whatever it is you are smoking,” with no expectation they would.
“Freshman year, I didn’t know anyone who had smoked marijuana. Senior year, I didn’t know anyone who hadn’t,” remembers one ’67 grad, who didn’t want his name used. “I’m not sure the grandchildren would understand.”
The Grove Project, the first co-ed Stanford residence and one of the first in the nation, launched when a group of 12 female and 31 male students moved into the vacated Phi Delt house to “show that a university the size of Stanford can create a situation in which intellectual life and the living situation are not divorced,” said Professor Mark Mancall, director of the residential experiment.
Male and female students at Stanford’s overseas campuses in Europe had been living in the same buildings on adjacent corridors, eating http://www.authenticsteelersshop.com/shop-by-players-cody-wallace-jersey-c-2_30.html meals in the same dining hall, and traveling together on three-day weekends. Back on the Farm, female students had to be in their sex-segregated dorms by 10 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends. Female students were fighting for permission to live off campus. As part of the “OFF” movement, they staged a strike for equal rights and withheld rent payments for campus room and board… but to no avail.
On campus
Writer and psychologist Timothy Leary visited campus after the San Francisco Be-In and participated in a symposium sponsored by the Tresidder Union Board called “Frontiers of the Mind: Psychedelics.” Another speaker at the symposium was former Stanford creative writing fellow and Merry Prankster Ken Kesey, who spoke about psychedelics and the creative arts. (While a fellow under Wallace Stegner in 1960, Kesey participated in a study of mind-altering drugs and worked as an attendant in a hospital psychiatric ward, which inspired him to write his 1962 novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.)
Members of the Stanford Daily staff tuned in to LSD when they launched a multi-issue print forum titled “LSD – Who, When, Why” where professors and students evaluated tripping.
Also making appearances on campus that academic year were some of the signature voices of the day: the Grateful Dead, beat poet and Be-In veteran Gary Snyder, Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee Chairman Stokely Carmichael for the Black Power Festival, six-time Socialist Party candidate for president Norman Thomas, and Martin Luther King Jr., who spoke about the need to achieve economic and social equality.
These radical challenges to conventional ideas and behavior took place in the lengthening shadow of the massive buildup of American troops in Vietnam, rapidly approaching half a million men. Television news brought graphic images of jungle combat nightly into the common rooms of dorms, fraternities and Row houses.
Vice President Hubert Humphrey Frank Gore Youth Jersey experienced a staged walk-out during his address at Memorial Auditorium in support of President Lyndon Johnson’s policy. Senator Mark O. Hatfield ’48 was enthusiastically received during his Distinguished Alumnus Lecture “From Farm to Forum” where he stated his objections to the war to a capacity crowd at Dinkelspiel Auditorium and a teach-in on White Plaza.

Snubbed Again: Manning, Harrison Not Named To Best QB-WR Duos List

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
First, Elliot Harrison left out Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis when listing the league’s all-time-best pass rushing duos.
But more recently, the NFL Media http://www.authenticsteelersshop.com/shop-by-players-anthony-chickillo-jersey-c-2_74.html analyst committed an even more egregious faux pas, when he left off Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison on his list of the “Top 5 Most Talented QB-WR Tandems Of All-Time.”
That’s right: the two guys who broke Joe Montana and Jerry Rice’s all-time quarterback-to-receiver touchdowns record — No. 18 and 88 had 112 between them from 1998 to 2008 — didn’t make the cut.
I will say this for Harrison, however: when tweeted at about the Freeney/Mathis omission, he responded with: “It wasn’t an all time career list…it was for one season only. If by career as teammates, Mathis and Freeney would easily make it.” I’d say that’s a fair point, though many would still argue the two should’ve been on the list, regardless.
But I’m not so sure Harrison can have the same response about leaving Manning and Harrison off this this.
Yes, for 11 seasons, these two were virtually unstoppable; that’s unprecedented longevity.
But do you want to pick one season? It’s difficult to choose just one, but let’s go to 2004. That year, Manning broke the all-time single-season record with 49 touchdown passes (to just 10 interceptions, throwing for 4,557 yards) for a career-best 121.1 QB rating. By all accounts, it was one of greatest, if not the greatest, single seasons ever by a quarterback in NFL history.
Harrison that year caught 86 passes for 1,113 yards with 15 touchdowns, tying a career high in that category. So that's a career-best year for a Hall of Fame wide receiver.
Here’s Harrison’s full Top 5 list, with some notes on each tandem — none of which certainly aren’t deserving to be in the conversation, but only a couple of which really stack up to that 2004 season from Manning and Harrison:
No. 5: Ben Roethelisberger and Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers, 2014: Roethelisberger that year led the league with 4,952 passing yards on a then-career best 67.1 percent completion percentage (408 of 608) with 32 touchdowns to just nine interceptions. Brown had a league-leading 129 receptions and 1,698 http://www.coltsshopauthentic.com/shop-by-players-23-frank-gore-jersey-c-1_12.html receiving yards to go along with 13 touchdowns.
No. 4: Joe Namath and Don Maynard, New York Jets, 1967: In a 14-game season, Namath threw for 4,000 yards — Maynard caught 1,400 of them. That’s very impressive in era about 10 years before these stats really started becoming the norm for quarterbacks and wide receivers. Namath, by the way, became the first 4,000-yard passer in NFL history that year, though his touchdown-to-interception rating was 26-to-28.
No. 3: Dan Fouts and John Jefferson, San Diego Chargers, 1980: The future Hall of Famer Fouts was amazing that season, throwing for 4,715 yards and 30 touchdowns (though he also threw 24 intercepetions), while he had three 1,000-yard receivers: Jefferson (1,340 yards, 13 touchdowns), Kellen Winslow (1,290 yards, nine touchdowns) and Charlie Joiner (1,132 yards, four touchdowns). Harrison went with Fouts/Jefferson, though, because of “talent,” and, “for a three-year window, you couldn’t stop them,” Harrison said. Hmm. Imagine not being able to stop someone for almost three times that long.
No. 2: Tom Brady and Randy Moss, New England Patriots, 2007: This one is pretty obvious, as Brady broke Manning’s single-season record with 50 touchdown passes, 23 of which went to Moss. That year, his first of four in New England, Moss caught 89 passes for 1,493 yards.
No. 1: Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, San Francisco 49ers, 1987: Obviously. Rice had 23 touchdowns (one rushing) in a 12-game, strike-shortened season. Montana threw for 3,054 yards with 31 touchdowns to just 13 interceptions (also in just 13 games), while Rice would catch 65 passes for 1,078 yards. Yikes.

AP source: Jags’ Linder now among NFL’s highest-paid centers

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have made Brandon Linder one of the NFL’s highest-paid centers.
Linder signed a five-year contract http://www.officialvikingshop.com/shop-by-players-xavier-rhodes-jersey-c-2_28.html extension worth a little more than $50 million Tuesday, according to a person familiar with negotiations. The deal came on the eve of the Jaguars reporting for training camp.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the Jaguars do not disclose contract details.
“Brandon has proven on the field that he is capable of highly productive performances, and this is a high-performance business,” said Tom Coughlin, the team’s executive vice president of football operations.
“We look for his continued leadership development as an anchor of our offensive line. Brandon has earned this new contract and the high expectations that go with it.”
Linder’s $10 million average salary is the most of any center in the league, and the deal includes more than $20 million guaranteed. NFL Network reported the guaranteed money at $24 million. Atlanta’s Alex Mack and Dallas’ Travis Frederick are the only NFL centers with more guaranteed money.
Linder, a third-round draft pick from Miami in 2014, has started 31 games in three seasons. He missed two games because of knee and ankle injuries last season. He also sat out one game as a rookie and missed 13 in 2015 because of a http://www.officialvikingssale.com/shop-by-players-scott-crichton-jersey-c-2_51.html shoulder injury. He made the switch from guard to center in 2016, and the Jaguars clearly believe he’s capable of playing at an All-Pro level.
“It means the world to me,” Linder said. “I’d love to play here my whole career. I fell in love with this city, and we have big things coming — changing the culture. … I couldn’t think of a better place to play my career.”
Linder is the first draft pick to re-sign with Jacksonville during general manager Dave Caldwell’s four-year tenure. Receiver Allen Robinson and linebacker Telvin Smith are expected to be next in line for extensions.

Raiders camp preview: Have they done enough to be better defensively?

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
Even in an exciting 12-4 season, there were plenty of reasons to be frustrated with how the Raiders played defensively. Whether it http://www.authentic49ersshop.com/shop-by-players-blaine-gabbert-jersey-c-1_8.html was allowing over 500 yards in consecutive games to open the season or their league-leading 38 pass plays of 25-plus yards, the unit wasn’t good despite the presence of Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack.
Overall, the Raiders finished 26th in total yards allowed and 20th in average points allowed at 24.1. When the offense is that good, you can get away with such futility and that might be the case again in 2017. But Jack Del Rio is a prideful man with a defensive background who wants to see this group play better.
Here’s a look at the Raiders defense entering the start of training camp Saturday:
Defensive line (13): *Khalil Mack, *Mario Edwards Jr., *Justin Ellis, *Jihad Ward, Denico Autry, Darius Latham, Eddie Vanderdoes, Treyvon Hester, Branden Jackson, Jimmy Bean, Fadol Brown, Chris Casher, Paul Boyette.
Analysis: Can anybody give Mack a hand? The NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year had 11 sacks last year, but got next to no help from his linemates. Denico Autry had 2.5 sack, as did Stacy McGee (who left for Washington in free agency) and the since-released Dan Williams had 0.5. Other than that, nothing else came from the Raiders down linemen. If they can get close to a full healthy season from Edwards, that should help a lot. The release of Williams opens up the top NT job for Ellis, who had a career-low four http://www.authenticbroncosshop.com/shop-by-players-shaquil-barrett-jersey-c-1_37.html starts last year. Ward won’t be healthy at the start of camp after having foot surgery and so Autry will have the early edge for that spot. Between Latham and the rookies Vanderdoes and Hester, the Raiders need to find somebody who can show an ability to pressure the quarterback from the interior.

New Orleans Saints' Top 20 players on the 2017 roster

Angel92
In reply to this post by coming
For the sixth consecutive offseason, we've ranked the New Orleans Saints' top players.
Eight players from last year's list http://www.authenticcowboyssale.com/shop-by-players-terrance-williams-jersey-c-2_21.html are no longer on this year's list: No. 4 Brandin Cooks, No. 9 Stephone Anthony, No. 10 Keenan Lewis, No. 11 Coby Fleener, No. 16 James Laurinaitis, No. 17 Jairus Byrd, No. 19 Tim Hightower, No. 20 Thomas Morstead.
This year's list brought a unique challenge with a 40 percent turnover from the 2016 top 20 rankings. It's difficult to decipher how well some players will recover from injury. It's also a challenge to determine how good some of the newbies (young and old) will fit into the mix.
As always, you're invited to give us your thoughts on the 2017 rankings in the comments.
There's literally no slowing down the veteran wide receiver.
Ginn came to the Saints after his second stint in Carolina and will be likely one of the team's fastest players. The Saints are banking on his speed in a Devery Henderson-type role for 2017.
He'll be the clear No. 3 wideout, not the "replacement" for Brandin Cooks. Ginn should also be considered a viable option at either kick or punt returner.
Ginn can make the incredible catch, but he can also make the mind-boggling drop. It's just who he is at this point in his career. But Ginn is coming off two of his better seasons with a combined 98 catches for 1,491 yards and 14 touchdowns with the Panthers.
The Saints traded up into the second round in the 2016 NFL Draft to nab Bell. They wasted no time thrusting him into the starting lineup on a defense needing all the help it could find.
Bell played every game last season, starting 14. The safety combined for 87 tackles (61 solo), along with a sack, two forced fumbles http://www.authenticcowboysstore.com/shop-by-players-cole-beasley-jersey-c-2_37.html and four pass defenses.
The Ohio State product seemed to play at his best when the Saints ran three-safety sets with Kenny Vaccaro and Jairus Byrd. Vaccaro's four-game suspension at the end of the 2016 season shifted Bell into more pass-coverage situations in which Bell struggled at times.
Adding Marcus Williams in this year's second round of the draft brings another piece to the equation. Williams, Bell and Vaccaro could be the three-safety set this season.
This ranking is more reflective on what Robertson did for the Saints last season as opposed to what I expect from him in 2017.
The Saints shoved Robertson into the starting lineup by Week 4 last season after initially viewing him as a reserve and special teams standout. The team tossed its original plans out the window after James Laurinaitis struggled mightily at middle linebacker.
Robertson became the team's on-field signal-caller for the rest of the season. He played better than one would have expected with 115 total tackles, a sack and an interception.
As for 2017, his role will likely revert to what Sean Payton and Co. anticipated Robertson came from Cleveland last offseason. Robertson  Tim Brown Womens Jersey should be the backup at weakside linebacker behind Dannell Ellerbe and play special teams.
But Ellerbe is injury prone, so Robertson should prepare himself as if he would again be the starter.
